Interestingly enough, astrology was once an accepted science, and it fact, it was even used for medical diagnoses. While the vast majority of people like to believe we've evolved, one cannot but wonder if we haven't, in actual fact, moved backwards, considering that we no longer wish to live in harmony with the cosmos. The truth is, the human race in general believes it's too advanced to believe in things such as the cosmos. Let's face it, the vast majority of people don't for a minute believe their lives can be affected by the movement of stars and planets.

Many records of astrological practice can be found which date back to Roman times, and according to those records, physicians routinely consulted astrological charts as part of the diagnostic process.

Have humans really advanced to such an extent that they can say without any doubt that we fully understand the workings of the universe? One needs to bear in mind that western civilization are nowadays more interested in conquering, rather than understanding, but of course, it hasn't always been this way.

There is an area of astrology known as medical astrology, in that it deals with the physical aspect of an individual. Simply by looking at a person's astrological chart, an astrologer is able to determine what sort of physical problems that person one is going to face, and at what stages of their life. The 6th house indicates the disease, 6th to 6th or 11th house also indicates the nature of ailment.

No matter how skeptical one is, the planets do have an influence upon our health. For example, when Mars, which is a fiery planet, enters Leo, it can gain excessive power which in turn can cause tumors, boils, brain hemorrhages, high blood pressure etc. Venus on the other hand causes kidney problems, while Mercury indicates paralysis, nervousness, and so on. Each sign of the zodiac is also believed to control a specific part of the body. For example, Pisces rules the feet, Cancer rules the stomach, and Taurus rules the neck.

Those who practice medical astrology will prescribe remedies for people, based on unpleasant affects being caused by the various planets. Generally speaking, remedies usually consist of a variety of gemstones.
